Congratulations! You are about to receive a Tattoo artist by a trained Professional who cleaned and disinfected the area tattooed and use sterile needles and instruments. Remember while your tattoo is healing it is a direct line into your bloodstream. You can contract any communical disease or cold through your new tattoo.
Hands and feet are a different kind of skin and requires some special care.
With any bending spot on the body there is a risk of color loss. Both hands and feet are very flexible and have a lot of joints in them. At I T F B G we offer tattoo insurance and recommend it on hands or feet. The insurance covers up to 3 touch ups within the first year you receive tattoo.
Tattoos on your hands need special care. Your hands touch things, dirty things, so you need to wear gloves. Non latex gloves with no powder are recommended. Apply bag balm to tattooed area and carefully pull glove on. Your new tattoo also needs air. Take off the glove and wash hand reapply bag balm and leave glove off when ever you can as long as there is no risk of it getting dirty.
Tattoos on your feet also need special care. If at all possible stay off your feet for the next 3 days especially if there is a lot of swelling. Apply bag balm and wrap tattoo in plastic wrap and cover foot with clean sock. Shoes need to fit well if they rub your tattoo the ink will come out. Your new tattoo also needs air. Take off the plastic wrap and wash foot, reapply bag balm and leave plastic off when ever you can as long as there is no risk of it getting dirty. No walking around without shoes ever! Walking stirs up dust, dirt and hair that will get into your new tattoo and cause infection.
Your tattoo and the skin around it should never look “water logged” the way your fingers look after you soak too long in water. Wrinkled and white.
Because the hand and foot are so hard to heal it is very important to take the best care of it you can and to come in for your check up. If you have any questions do not hesitate to call.
